As we said in a previous article Zakynthos is an amazing little island in Greece with beautiful crystal clear waters and warm people that will make you enjoy every moment of your vacation there.
Mr. Panagiotis from Zakynthos island had a unique idea, to transform his old and abandoned stone sheep fold into a warm place that will host guest who seek relaxation and tranquility.
Live a life time experience and stay for a night or more in this more than 300 years old, stone sheep fold.
You can either sleep in the stone hut, where once sheep used to shelter or outdoors under the stars. Enjoy the village and sea view and watch every evening the amazing sunset from the outdoor bed. Have a shower in the outdoor shower, feel free.
All this in a 7000m2 enclosed area in the middle of the forest.
The space
Strouga is a hide away place where you can really relax and be away from other people. All 7000m2 of forest and open field is at your own disposal.
The lighting is from solar photo-voltaic that gives light in the stone hut and 3 light bulbs at the outside of the sheep fold. The rest of the property and surrounding area is completely dark. You can only see the village lights and ship lights that go by and of course stars, lots of stars. Inside the hut you can charge your cell phone battery, but i believe in a place like this cell phones are a waste of quality time with nature.
Behind the sheep fold and in the forest there is a small tent where you can find a small fridge and a cabinet that has dishes, knifes and forks, glasses, Italian coffee maker, a small portable gas burner and toilet paper. There is also a small wooden table with 2 chairs and a hammock bed.
In the open bathroom there is a chemical toilet and a shower. Since there is no water supply you will be daily provided with 60 liters of fresh water. Enough for a quick shower for 2 persons.
I can assure you that this will be an amazing opportunity to experience the hospitality of the locals in a unique place.
“Strouga” offers a double bedroom, Bathroom, Kitchen, Shampoo, Essential (towels, linen etc.), Hot water, water for Shower.

Your post about «Strouga» was really amazing. When I saw the shed my mind went back to the period of the Hippies and the stone caves at Matala, Crete. The idea of living a few days into the nature with practically little luxury exites me. However the «Strouga» owner managed to combine simplicity and nature’s freedom with beauty and style. I definitly have to plan a couple of days staying at strouga and explore isolation, freedom and nature’s beauty.
