A city full of history. Nicosia is the capital of Cyprus and is divided between Cyprus and the Turkish republic of Cyprus. The old town is surrounded by the Venetian walls and constitutes the meeting point for all the locals. A walk on Ledras street is a must since there you will find plenty of options like shops, restaurants, cafes and historical sites. Do not forget to visit the Leventios art gallery with the beautiful exhibitions that hosts every year, the Archbishop and the Observatory that will provide you with an integrated visual of the entire city.

The reality of the divided capital is of course visible (flags, guard rooms, barricades, etc.) and determined a part of your visit in the town.

Try traditional “meze” at any local tavern, but make sure that you will go very hungry, since the food they offer seems unlimited.
The best period to visit: Mostly during spring or autumn since summers are really hot and the city is almost empty
Climate: Nicosia has a hot semi-arid climate due to its low annual precipitation totals and annual temperature range
